What TUSS, ICD-10 and LOINC are and how to use the search

TUSS (Terminologia Unificada da Saúde Suplementar) is the terminology of the Brazilian TISS standard, maintained by ANS and organized in tables, such as 22 (procedures and health events), 18 (daily rates, fees and medical gases), 20 (drugs) and 19 (supplies and OPME), with start and end dates of validity. ICD-10 is the World Health Organization’s classification of diseases, in chapters, blocks, categories (such as J18) and subcategories (such as J18.9). The Portuguese edition used in Brazil (CID-10) comes from DATASUS, so its terms are in Portuguese. DATASUS also maintains CNES, the national registry of health facilities.

LOINC, maintained by the Regenstrief Institute, is the international code system for laboratory tests and clinical observations. Each term’s name is built from six axes (component, property, time, system, scale and method), and each term has a class and a status: active, trial, not recommended or deprecated, with the replacement code when there is one. Official names are in English.

How to use: choose the code system (and, for TUSS, the table) and type a code or part of the term. The search ignores accents and letter case and accepts words in any order. For TUSS, it shows whether each code is in force today; for LOINC, it filters by class and status and lists the most used terms first. Click a result to see its details, copy the code or open its page. TUSS table 19 is not available yet. The tables are loaded once and the search runs in your browser; the source and version are shown at the bottom of the page.
